In 2001, Gretty Zueger left her job as an engineer at a software company to pursue a passion she had nurtured since her youth: starting her own clothing company. As a mother of two, Zueger was thrilled to embark on a second career as an entrepreneur. Noticing that many major fashion brands offered basic or generic designs at high prices, Zueger founded her own clothing company, crafting unique designs using high-quality materials.
The line sources the finest natural and unprocessed materials from around the globe. Pima Cotton, one of the world’s finest fibers, is used to create luxuriously soft and durable couture. Natural silk, known for its beauty, breathability, and hypoallergenic properties, ensures fashionable and comfortable everyday wear.
Originally from Peru, a developing country, Zueger aimed to contribute to her native country by conducting textile manufacturing there, while drawing inspiration for her designs from New Mexico. Inspired by the diverse artisan goods and cultural blend of Anglo, Hispanic, and Indian influences in Santa Fe, Zueger’s designs incorporate embellishments such as piping and mixed-media elements. The initial Gretty Zueger line had a Midwestern feel and was even featured in Cowboys and Indians Magazine, but has since transitioned to an everyday wear collection.
Zueger’s designs remain travel-inspired, integrating ethnic, romantic symbols, and elements of nature into her pieces. Manufacturing employs a high-quality process, with each piece drawn by hand, imprinted, and artisan-embroidered individually.
Many of Zueger’s collections feature garments dyed with high-pigmented inks using an eco-friendly rinse process that conserves water compared to traditional dyeing methods. This reflects Zueger’s commitment to environmental consciousness in the fashion industry.
