Born in a small town in northern Russia, Inna began to exhibit her artistic talents at a very young age. As a little girl she loved to knit and crochet, and during adolescence she began sewing and “improving” her mother’s dresses and blouses to her taste. With music as her other passion, she also studied piano and attended music school.
At age 16 she left her parents’ home, moving many miles away to study music and begin a career as an opera singer. Although she received the highest marks and accolades while attending Sictivar School of Art, she realized that she had not yet found her niche and longed for a more meaningful way to express herself and her artistic abilities. So, at age 20, she moved to the Russian capital of Moscow to study at the State Academy of Slovonic Culture, Department of History and Theory of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture.
It was while studying at the Academy that she began to support herself working as a manager in one of the most famous Moscow theaters-”The School of Modern Piece”. Her talents were soon noticed and she became the personal assistant to the fashion designer and was given her own personal interior design projects as well, creating textile designs for two Moscow restaurants. She ultimately ended up working as manager for the company that organized different photo exhibitions around Russia.
In 2005, after graduation from the Academy, she moved to Greece. The natural beauty of the area, the ancient classic art, and traveling to different countries in Europe opened a new page in her creative life and she began to paint. She spent countless hours drawing ancient statues in museums, painting still life, and artistically capturing the vista views of all the places she traveled.
After four years in Greece and a short stop in Milan, Italy, where she studied Italian and cast her gaze upon the glamorous fashion world, she packed her bags and set about the realization of her lifelong dream of moving to the USA. It’s here that all the pieces of “Inna’s Artistic Life” puzzle have come together, where she’s found her own personal happiness and a new freedom and opportunity to create.
Inna’s unique accessory and clothing creations combine a lacing, weaving, sewing and felting technique, creating an unparalleled style that allows her to “paint” with fiber. With music as her inspiration, she uses her art and fashion experience together with the picturesque effects of the fibers and colors themselves to give birth to each individual NEPHELE garment. The pieces take their name from ancient Greece, where Nephele was a nymph of clouds who called forth the golden fleece, which is still a symbol of the fashion industry today.
The almost weightless, incredibly beautiful and comfortable garments give one the feeling that you are being surrounded and embraced by a soft, magical, colored sunset cloud. This is the main concept and intention behind Inna’s unrivaled collection. NEPHELE is not just clothing. It is indeed art that you wear!
